TREAT YOUR FACE TO A SERUM THAT NOT ONLY NOURISHES YOUR SKIN, BUT SMELLS AMAZING!
I recently had a facial and at the very end of my session, the esthetician rubbed the most amazing smelling essential oil blend on my face. I felt my entire body relax. I had to have that oil at check out, I thought. But when I looked at the price and the ingredients in the bottle, I realized I could easily make it at home. And so I did! It’s obviously not exactly like the spa’s, but it’s pretty darn close! The secret to this blend is the Rosemary! I’ve never had a serum with Rosemary in it, and this EO makes it smell so good and unique! Also, Be sure to check out my post on DIY Facial Serum! It’s my most popular post, and I’ve only heard great things from my readers who’ve made and used it. It smells heavenly, too. Here are the main oils and why they are great for the skin: Geranium helps slough dead cells, tightens the skin, and diminishes signs of aging. It’s sedative qualities make it also great for relaxing. Frankincense has so many uses, but is primarily known as an amazing anti-aging oil because it can protect and regenerate healthy skin cells. It also helps fight acne, lightens dark spots, prevents wrinkles, reduces large pores and tightens skin. Patchouli is thought to treat oily skin and reverse signs of aging. It also soothes inflamed skin. Google the benefits of Patchouli and you will be astounded! It’s great for aiding in digestion! Rosemary helps improve circulation, which means that this oil can help decrease puffiness. Hello, baggy eyes! It also has anti-aging and natural antiseptic properties, which in turn helps acne. Vitamin E oil is an anti-oxidant and helps protect the skin from damage as it fights off free radicals. It hydrates skin, is an anti-inflammatory, and is a natural barrier to the sun. (If you have very sensitive skin, it is advised to skip using vitamin E as some will react with a rash.) How to make DIY Oily Facial Serum: 1. Using a mini-funnel and a 5 ml roller bottle, add EO’s first. 2. Add 5 drops Frankincense EO. 3. Add 1 drop Patchouli EO. 4. Add 5 drops Rosemary EO. 5. Add 2 drops Geranium EO. 6. Fill remaining with vitamin E oil. 7. Shake well. Roll on face and massage morning and night after cleansing. *Optional: Fill remaining half with vitamin E oil and the rest with a light carrier oil, such as Grapeseed oil or Young Living’s V-6 carrier oil. I recommend NOT using coconut carrier oil as it clogs pores. Enjoy! Let me know how you like the serum! XOXO, Lauren Disclosure: I am not a doctor or medical professional.
