Welcome to this little space!
My name is Lauren Gary, mama of 4,
& daughter of a good king.
Here you can expect to find real life, the good and bad.
From faith, to family, to gardening, to travel, to living in a sweltering hot state...
My heart is to share our story.
Why the title, Little Sanctuaries?
Recently, I was struggling with the "letting go" of having teenagers.
The growing absence of their lingering hugs. The insistence of going places with friends instead of mama.
The persistence of having their own cell phones!
And their crying when we'd say no.
Worry + questions were setting in.
"Will this pass? I only have 4 more years with them here. Have I trained them enough?
Do they know you, God? Will they be okay out there?"
My heart was crying, but God gave me a word about their inevitable independence.
(He does that kind of thing.)
"Although I have scattered them among the countries,
yet have I been to them as a little sanctuary in the countries where they are come."
God had given me the encouragement from Isaiah 40:11 while raising babies and toddlers,
"He gently leads those that have young."
Now, He has given me a new promise for a very different season of our lives.
He will be with them, wherever they go, a little sanctuary.
He's in charge. I am not.
This space is dedicated to letting go.
Of kids. Ideals. Expectations.
And trusting that His season, His story, His promises
will all come to pass with abundant grace.
This space is dedicated to aiming our arrows out into a wild world
and trusting God that his little sanctuaries will be more than enough.
